Good news folks! The twisted mind that brought us THE MACHINIST and SESSION 9 has been tapped by Paramount to helm the remake of George Romero’s THE CRAZIES. Even better is that he’ll re-team with writer Scott Kosar (THE MACHINIST) who has recently done a bang up job on the remakes of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and THE AMITYVILLE HORROR.
The original story saw: inhabitants of a small Pennsylvania town…beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. The premise will be updated, though no specifics yet on how exactly. I just can’t imagine how they’ll make the original theme of government distrust relevant today.
One thing we can be sure of, though, with Anderson and Kosar on board – this is gonna be one messy, gory, insane ride to cuckoo-ville! Sign me up!
