Could this be the female counterpart to Duncan Jones’ MOON?
Some interesting news out of Vulture today posits that Angelina Jolie has opted out of making a sequel to the 2008 hit WANTED so she can pursue a leading turn in Alfonso Cuaron’s (pictured right) space thriller GRAVITY. Let’s hash out the deets on this sucker…
GRAVITY, a Warner Brothers property, is a project co-written by Cuaron (CHILDREN OF MEN, Y TU MAMA, TAMBIEN) and his 28 year old son Jonas. Like WANTED 2, the flick was originally set up at Universal.
According to the preliminary missive: Jolie will play the sole surviving human member of a space mission, desperately trying to return home to Earth and her daughter. She will be the only actor on screen for most of the movie.
David Heyman & Legendary Pictures will produce.
Extra details are unknown at this point, but any true fan of cinema should be pretty f*ckin’ stoked to hear more. I mean, Cuaron and Jolie teaming up for the same film? A film set in the cosmos, in which Jolie appears in damn near every frame? Sounds epic to me!
Jolie can next be seen in SALT, and she’s currently filming a thriller called THE TOURIST. Cuaron is currently attached to direct a 2012 flick called A BOY AND HIS SHOE (also written by Jonas).
