Animal lovers will undoubtedly melt for the trailer for Max the military dog

Now here's a flick for the MARLEY AND ME crowd! MAX tells the coming-of-age story about a young teen from a family dealing with loss, who finds friendship, comfort and adventure with the heroic military dog of his fallen brother, a United States Marine who served his country on the front lines of the war in Afghanistan. And if you think that pup in the vest isn't the cutest thing ever, then you should probably go to the doctor because you're missing a human heart. For the rest of you, you can check out the first trailer below.

I thought the premise of MAX was pretty cool, until the whole angst-y brother came into the picture. Frankly, I'd love to see a more edgy film focusing on the dog and his companion in Afghanistan, but that's obviously not what they're going for here. For those of you with little ones, this probably looks like a safe bet, although the pandering was a little too much for me when the dog and and the kid flew through the air together, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON – style. Ah well. Dog's still cute.

MAX will hit theaters and the hearts of dog lovers everywhere on June 26, 2015.
