Dread Central have word on an interesting flick headed our way from a couple filmmakers who’ve mostly done short films… until now! Director/producer Mark Steensland and writer Rick Hautala are about to start work on a movie called ANIMOSITY.
What’s ANIMOSITY? It’s a novel from author James Newman that’s looking to hit bookshelves in mid-2009. It follows a horror author whose neighbors grow suspicious of him after he discovers the body of a young girl who has been murdered. Interesting. I’m getting a DISTURBIA vibe but I’ve got no idea what to think with this one so I’ll let Steensland explain a bit more:
“[Animosity] is a classic ‘pressure-cooker’ kind of story, like Straw Dogs or The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street. What makes it both relevant and timeless is that these are real people in a very plausible situation.”
Unlike their previous work ANIMOSITY will be the first feature collaboration between Steensland and Hautala. It’s coming from their Chang Shao Trading Company shingle with Necessary Evil Press behind the book.
