Anne Hathaway confirms her involvement in Spielberg’s Robopocalypse

And so it goes friends, Anne Hathaway will indeed partake in Spielberg’s ROBOPOCALYPSE!

We reported the what if back in September, when Anne was merely in talks to join the massive sci-fi spectacle. Thankfully, Hathaway confirmed her involvement to Empire, with one caveat:

“If Robopocalypse happens I will be in it,” she tells Empire, “and I believe it’s quite real, though you never want to hang your hat on anything.”

Cute not to count your chickens and all, but we’re talking about Spielberg. If he wants to make it, it’s going to happen. Thing is, it’s already slated to open April 25, 2014. Plenty of time, sure, but is Drew Goddard’s script ready to shoot? What’s this “if it happens” shite if it already has a date set?

Based on Daniel Wilson’s bestseller:

In the near future, at a moment no one will notice, all the dazzling technology that runs our world will unite and turn against us. Taking on the persona of a shy human boy, a childlike but massively powerful artificial intelligence known as Archos comes online and assumes control over the global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to utilities, defense and communication. In the months leading up to this, sporadic glitches are noticed by a handful of unconnected humans – a single mother disconcerted by her daughter’s menacing “smart” toys, a lonely Japanese bachelor who is victimized by his domestic robot companion, an isolated U.S. soldier who witnesses a ‘pacification unit’ go haywire – but most are unaware of the growing rebellion until it is too late.

Ben Winshaw is onboard, so too is perhaps a schedule-conflicted Chris Hemsworth.  More names to come soon enough…
