Anne Heche cause of death

The cause of death of Anne Heche has been revealed. The Hollywood Reporter, citing the official coroner’s report, reported the actress’ accidental death was a result of “inhalation and thermal injuries,” in addition to “sternal fracture due to blunt trauma.”

On August 5, the 53-year-old Heche crashed her car into a home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Mar Vista. It took nearly 60 firefighters over an hour to extinguish the fire and remove Heche from the vehicle. Days later, it was announced Heche was in a coma and brain dead and thus legally dead by California standards. She remained on life support until her organs could be donated.

Heche’s most famous ex-partner, Ellen DeGeneres, tweeted: “This is a sad day. I’m sending Anne’s children, family and friends all of my love.”

Heche’s busy career began with the NBC soap opera Another World, for which she earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress, before dividing her time between television and film.

Her most popular roles include supporting turns in teen horror flick I Know What You Did Last Summer and Barry Levinson’s Wag the Dog, in addition to starring turns in Six Days, Seven Nights alongside Harrison Ford and Gus Van Sant’s shot-for-shot remake of Psycho, allowing her to recreate the horror classic’s famous shower scene. Recently, she appeared on Dancing with the Stars, being eliminated in the third round.

Heche’s most recent movie was a lead role in 2021’s 13 Minutes. She has two posthumous releases scheduled: a lead in the disaster movie Supercell and a recurring role on the HBO series The Idol.
