Not really sure what Ryan Reynolds is doing in the new one-sheet for BURIED…is he trying to burn his way out of a coffin or simply light his farts for amusement? I…just…can’t…tell!
Regardless of what Mr. Green Lantern is doing in the ol’ worm-box, it doesn’t change the fact Rodrigo Cortes’ well-tracking thriller BURIED comes out October 8th. If you paid attention to the last poster for the flick we shot at you, you’ll remember how laudatory that shite was…basically whoring quotes from critics all over the map (yet where was our man Chris Bumbray’s???)
I’ll say this: even if the film isn’t a masterpiece of Hitchcockian proportion (as some have suggested), to keep an audience interested in a 95 minute one-act setup is damn hard to do. If done even half as well as some critics claim it to be, all the props in the world to Cortes, Reynolds and Co. for their success. So what if it ain’t ROPE, making a good film under such strictures is no easy feat. For real.
Paul Conroy is not ready to die.
But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery , and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time- fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.
