Ant-Man and the Wasp concept art shows Hope Van Dyne in full-on action mode

Marvel has unveiled a stylish, new piece of concept art for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP that shows Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne executing some sweet combat moves as she flies through the air in full-on superhero mode for the new film. The upcoming Marvel action adventure sequel finds Scott Land (Paul Rudd) teaming up with Hope Van Dyne and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) who together set out on a mission that will bring secrets from the past out into the light.

Empire, who shared the new concept art, recently sat down for a chat with the film's director, Peyton Reed, to discuss the exciting new direction Hope's character will take in the sequel. “It was important to me, in this movie called Ant-Man and the Wasp, that she’s not a supporting character,” Reed told Empire in the latest issue of their magazine. “She’s a lead character. She’s become a fully-formed hero.”

Now that Edgar Wright's exit from the Ant-Man franchise is long since passed, Peyton has the ability to guide the characters into his ideal direction, which evidently includes making Hope a much larger player in the MCU. As a major fan of the character from way back, I'm excited to see Hope step into the spotlight when ANT-MAN AND THE WASP buzzes into theaters on July 6th.

And hey, if you're looking for some fun Ant-Man-related comic book action, be sure to check out Marvel's The Unstoppable WASP written by Jeremy Whitley with art by Elsa Charretier. The series features Hank Pym's daughter, Nadia, as a super hero scientist who spent the entire first half of her life held captive in The Red Room, but now the teenage crime fighter is on her own for the first time and things are about to get crazy! I highly recommend it.
