Anthony Anderson manages a musical prodigy in Netflix’s Beats trailer

A trailer for director Chris Robinson's BEATS has grooved its way onto the net, giving audiophiles yet another reason to be content with making room in their budget for a Netflix subscription. The upcoming drama stars Anthony Anderson (BLACK-ISH, HUSTLE & FLOW), Uzo Aduba (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, STEVEN UNIVERSE), Emayatzy Corinealdi (ROOTS, MIDDLE OF NOWHERE), Khalil Everage (YouTube Premium's COBRA KAI), Dreezy (ATLANTA, BOOMERANG), and Dave East (THE BREAKS) for a tale that centers on a young musical prodigy (Khalil Everage) who is still suffering from the loss of his sister. Before long, the young man meets a down-and-out high school security guard with dreams of becoming a top-tier manager in the music industry. Together, the prodigy and his newfound associate work toward vanquishing their inner demons while making an attempt to chance the game. It's going to take a lot of work, plenty of heartache, and a torrent of sick beats for the duo to rise to the top. Thankfully, they're more than willing to try, and the new kid on the block has got skills for days.

Helmed by Robinson from a script penned by Miles Orion Feldsott (DEADLY CLASS, BIONIC WOMAN), BEATS will mark Everage's feature film debut, making him the subject of a love leter to Chicago's South Side musical community – a collective that bleeds rhythm, has created legends, and will remain a hub of the Hip Hop and R&B scene for all time.

BEATS will launch globally on Netflix on June 19th.
