Anton Yelchin set to star in Fright Night remake?

From Charlie Bartlett to Charlie Brewster?

ALPHA DOG, STAR TREK, TERMINATOR SALVATION…these are just a few titles under the belt of Russian born actor Anton Yelchin (seen right). And according to Heat Vision, Yelchin may be adding another notch under said belt with a starring turn in Craig Gillespie’s FRIGHT NIGHT remake. Check it…

Currently in negotiations to star in the DreamWorks rehash, word is the script by Marti Noxon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) has kept the original character names intact. Thus, Yelchin is in line to play Charlie Brewster, a teenager whose paranoid beliefs that his new neighbor is a vampire may come back to bite him. For good!

Gillespie, whose directorial debut LARS AND THE REAL GIRLS landed a slew of positive reviews, last directed Billy Bob Thornton and Sean William Scott in MR. WOODCOCK. Hopefully FRIGHT NIGHT will fall somewhere in between!

It’s also worth noting the comparisons to DISTURBIA, a DreamWorks hit that also dealt with the paranoid dealings of teenager in regards to a potentially harmful new neighbor. FRIGHT NIGHT, like DISTURBIA, will be made on the relative cheap with hopes of turning a tidy profit.

I guess we’ll see if those plans hold!

Yelchin can next be seen in Jodie Foster’s BEAVER (and here I thought she was a lezzer!)

Yelchin’s KEEP COMING BACK co-star, Milla Jovovich!
