Aquaman 2 has wrapped production announces Jason Momoa

Production on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom began earlier this summer, but after six water-filled months, the sequel to the hit DC Comics film has finally finished shooting. Jason Momoa took to Instagram to announce that production on Aquaman 2 has wrapped and that he’s looking forward to taking a break.

Aw man, that’s a wrap. That’s a wrap, Aquaman 2. I have so much to share with you, I wish … I could tell you so much. What an epic day. I love you. So good to have been home to finish this, so many good surprises. Love you and…it’s been a long time. I’m taking a break. Aloha.

I had a lot of fun with the first Aquaman movie, and now that Aquaman 2 has wrapped, I can’t wait to see just how director James Wan has taken the franchise to the next level. Speaking of amped-up sequels, Dolph Lundgren, who plays King Nereus, recently said that he believes Aquaman 2 will be even better than the first. “That whole picture is just a class act,” Lundgren said. “Everybody from James Wan and Jason Momoa to Amber Heard and the producers. I think this one is better. I think the script is stronger and it’s more exciting.” I can’t wait.

Aquaman 2 will also star Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry. Director James Wan has also previously stated that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be heavily inspired by an unlikely source – Mario Bava’s Planet of the Vampires. “Aquaman 2 is very heavily inspired by Planet of the Vampires,” Wan teased. “You can take the boy out of the horror but you can never take the horror out of the boy.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
