We were lucky enough to be sent an early look at the UK-based comedy/horror-noir MARK MACREADY AND THE ARCHANGEL MURDERS, which has just finished production in Manchester, England. These are strictly behind-the-scenes stills. We’ve also got the synopsis and some insight from the producers regarding the supernatural spookfest, and it seems like one to keep an eye on.
Here’s what it’s about: The film focuses on a branch of Manchester police that specializes in crimes of a paranormal nature, one of the officers (Mac) finds his wife Christina has been snatched up by a demon known as The Archangel Killer. we follow Mac and his assistant Ed as they delve into the demonic underbelly of Greater Manchester to find his missing wife.
In addition, here’s what we learned about the nature of the flick: The style will be something quite different as it follows the themes of standard cop-dramas but with the added gore and horror elements of demons, vampires, shape-shifters, bog pimps, Zombie prostitutes, were-squirrels and much more. The comedy side of the film will be very satirical of old film-noir detective movies, with easily scared female characters and melodramatic performances from the hero. The story and characters has just so much potential and even leaves the viewer wanting a sequel or accompanying TV series, perhaps following in the vein of X-Files with a “Monster Of The Week” story.
I for one am always down for were-squirrels and zombie prostitutes, so bring it on!
