Archive 81 images preview James Wan’s Netflix series

A couple weeks ago, Netflix announced that the James Wan-produced series Archive 81 will be available to watch on the streaming service as of January 14th. When they made that announcement, they also unveiled four images from the show. Now a couple more images have surfaced online, along with a poster, so we have gathered them together at the bottom of this article.

“Very loosely” inspired by a supernatural horror podcast of the same name, Archive 81 tells the following story:

When archivist Dan Turner takes a mysterious job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994, he finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras and her investigation into a dangerous cult. As Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.

The series stars Mamoudou Athie (Underwater), Dina Shihabi (Jack Ryan), Martin Donovan (Ghost Whisperer), Matt McGorry (Orange Is the New Black), Julia Chan (Silent House), Evan Jonigkeit (Bone Tomahawk), Gameela Wright (John Wick), Martin Sola (Knights in Newark), and Ariana Neal (Hidden Figures).

Stranger Things director Rebecca Thomas directed half of the episodes that make up the first season of Archive 81. Rebecca Sonnenshine of The Boys and The Vampire Diaries serves as showrunner. Paul Harris Boardman, who has worked with Scott Derrickson on multiple projects, is executive producing the show alongside Thomas, Sonnenshine, Wan, Michael Clear, and Antoine Douaihy. Rob Hackett is a co-executive producer, and the podcast’s creators Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell are co-producing.

I’m not familiar with the podcast that inspired this show, but Wan’s involvement is enough to get me curious to see how Archive 81 has turned out.
