Armageddon Time trailer: An all-star cast chases the American Dream in James Gray’s new drama

Generational divides often keep people apart, but if you can build a bridge between the opposing sides, you might be surprised by who’s willing to make the journey toward a better tomorrow. Director James Gray (The Lost City of ZAd Astra, We Own the Night) and Focus Features will tug on your heartstrings today, thanks to the new Armageddon Time trailer. Timely, emotional, and ready to teach audiences a lesson or two, Armageddon Time is a period drama that looks at different ways to chase the American Dream.

The Armageddon Time trailer features the film’s A-list cast, including Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, and Anthony Hopkins. The film revolves around the blossoming relationship between two young boys, played by Banks Repeta and Jaylin Webb. While one boy is white and the other is Black, neither see a reason not to engage in a meaningful friendship. Unfortunately, their parents, and society, see things differently. With opposing forces striving to keep the children apart, love and tolerance continue to shine in unlikely places, healing what’s been broken by ignorance and generations of misguided aggression.

The Armageddon Time trailer gives Gray’s film those award-worthy vibes we’ve all grown accustomed to looking for this time of year. The footage shows the potential for some powerhouse performances, particularly from the film’s young stars. Plus, you’ve got Hathaway, Strong, and Hopkins lending their experience to this heartening journey of understanding and breaking down barriers. You can almost hear Gray and Focus Features rubbing their hands together in anticipation of audiences eating this drama up with a fork and knife.

In addition to directing the movie, Gray also wrote the script. Anthony Katagas, Marc Butan, and Rodrigo Teixeira produce, with Alan Terpins, Marco Tulio Kehdi, Francisco Civita, Beto Gauss, Gustavo Debs, and Lourenco Sant’Anna executive producing.

Focus Features will release the film in select theaters on Friday, October 28th, and nationwide on Friday, November 11th.
