Welcome to AROUND THE CAMPFIRE, a weekly column that takes a gander at what the horror fans around our virtual campfire (i.e. the ARROW IN THE HEAD HORROR FORUMS) are yapping about before they get whacked…  or before they do the nasty and THEN get whacked. Demons remake?

“Just stumbled on a woman’s page on FB that played the “Hooker” demon in Demons from 1985( her name is Geretta Geretta). She was the one that became infected first as a result of getting scratched from putting on the demon mask that was in the lobby. You know what happened after that. On one of her videos she has posted on her page, she mentions how she has bought the rights to Demons and is going to remake it.

I looked around and i can’t find any info on a Demons remake, who knows, but she says in the video she’s writing and directing. Don’t know what to think about this, but i will say this, she seems genuinely enthused about old style Italian horror, so who better than someone who was a part of that whole scene to “resurrect” it and she prob has numerous connections to other people who were a part of that movement in the 70s and 80s. “

I Spit on Your Grave remake

“Nothing surprises me anymore. I’ve given up on bitching about remakes for the most part because there ain’t a damn thing I can fucking do about them. Other than refuse to give out my cash. It’s just something I have to accept. Everything is going to be remade. I Spit on Your Grave is a weird one to do though because I can’t imagine it being very commercially viable.”

What’s NEW in your ‘Horror’ DVD collection??

“I finally picked up ‘Magic’ (1978) on DVD, from Dark Sky Films! It’s about time somebody saved this very underrated classic; Anthony Hopkins is Corky. A poor magician that has no self-confidence and a personality disorder, who ends up bringing a dummy called ‘Fats’ into his act, now his star is on the rise. Trouble erupts, as Corky seems to fear success and goes into hiding; without giving away too much here—lets just say Corky starts to show cracks in his sanity as he can’t seem to function without Fats. Magic is amazing and genuinely scary! Hopkins is brilliant in the role and shows his darker side, which predates his Lector days…A must own DVD!”
