Arrow’s “must see” genre films of 2010! (Part 1/2)

Now that we FINALLY
left 2009 behind us; I checked out the
films that are to come in 2010,and I gotta say it, it’s looking pretty damn good!
Yeah sure, its remake madness, but some of them have peaked my interest and
there’s enough original stuff to wet my appetite. Behold my
13 MUST SEE GENRE FLICKS OF 2010 below! NOTE: I would have slapped FRIDAY THE 13TH
PART 2 in there, but it doesn’t look like it will be ready by the end of the year.
So
be it Jedi!

13- A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET

Release Date: April 30th, 2010
Director: Samuel Bayer
Starring: Kellan Lutz and Jackie Earle Haley

WHY: Aside from looking forward to Jackie
Earle Haley’s performance and that Plat Dunes movies usually look really
eye candy slick – I really can’t wait to see IF they f*cked it up. Class this one under
MORBID CURIOSITY.

12- THE WOLFWAN

Release Date: February 10th, 2010
Director: Joe Johnston
Starring: Benicio Del Toro, Hugo Weaving, Anthony Hopkins

WHY: I’m always IN for a groovy werewolf
flick, the atmospheric TRAILERS look great, the special effects seem badass and
the cast is tops (Benecio!!!!). Also who doesn’t want to see if Rick Baker has
surpassed his stellar wolf man effects in American Werewolf in London? COME ON!
Lets hope them re-shoots BETTERED the film as opposed to
being a waste of coin on a lost cause.

11- CLASH OF THE TITANS

Release Date: March 26th, 2010
Director: Louis Leterrier
Starring: Sam Worthington, Pete Postlethwaite, Mads Mikkelsen

WHY: I LOVE the original, am a big fan of
Sam Worthington and Louis Leterrier has yet to make a boring movie. The man
knows how to do action right! There’s so much potential with this one and I expect nothing less than being BLOWN AWAY!

10- SAW 7 3D

No trailer 4 this one yet…

Release Date: October 22, 2010
Director: David Hackl
Starring: Tobin bell, Costas Mandylor, a bunch of disposable actors

WHY: To witness traps in
action and dumb peeps get ripped to grisly shred in motherf*cking 3D! YEEHAW!
That’s it! My only reason.

9- BOOK OF ELI

Release Date: January 15, 2010
Director: The Hughes Brothers
Starring:
Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman Mila Kunis

WHY: Am happy to see the uber talented
Hughes Brothers behind the lens again

(FROM HELL rocks!)
, you can’t go wrong with
Denzel and Gary Oldman doing their thing and I’m always up for a brutal, Road Warrior-ish jamboree
of fun!

8- FROZEN

Release Date: February 19, 2010
Director: Adam Green
Starring: Emma Bell, Michelle Williams, Shawn Ashmore

WHY: Because I dug what I saw in Adam Green’s
previous film
HATCHET
, the premise is unique, and I’m all for genre films that
are not sequels or remakes. Bring it!

7- SHUTTER ISLAND

Release Date: February 19, 2010
Director: Martin Scorsese
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams

WHY: Hey man, it’s King Kong Scorsese doing
a horror film (yup looks like horror to me, sue me), it looks astounding
visually, its got Leo and Ruffalo (whom I love) and its release has been pushed
so many times that I just want to tap it already and MOVE ON!

PART 2 OF THIS LIST COMING SOON!
