It’s been a little while since we heard any news feeding into the buzz of an EVIL DEAD 4 or Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell’s involvement in it. So it makes sense that today, another tidbit on the return of the Necromonicon has hit the web. It’s not necessarily super positive news, but it is pretty funny… and it does come from The Chin himself! Have a look at how Mr. Campbell replied during an interview after fielding an onslaught of “Ash-related” questions:
“Look, let’s cut to the chase because you keep dancing around it, if you’re talking about Ash coming back again, Sam Raimi has the best perspective. He says, ‘Look, I can go back and do Ash vs. whoever whenever I want. I can do that when I’m 70; I don’t have to do that now. Right now I’m on a fast, fat groovy train in Hollywood.’ And he’s going to follow that, and he’ll come back and to EVIL DEAD stuff when he’s unemployed and living at the Old Director’s Home.”
Leave it to The Chin to give it to us straight. This sounds like the most logical and truthful statement regarding another EVIL DEAD that we’ve ever heard. And seeing as how Mr. Raimi has no shot at ever being unemployed as a director, it looks like we will have to wait a very long time to see Ash and his chainsaw hand wreaking havoc again. However, the idea of an “old folk’s home” and Campbell and Raimi does sound like an interesting concept… however that would be more like BUBBA ASH-TEP.
