Last week I brought along a few stills from Joe Cornish’s ATTACK THE BLOCK, which is executive produced by Edgar Wright and his SHAUN OF THE DEAD team. Not unlike that film, ATTACK blends comedy, action and horror with a seemingly deft touch. (There’s also some Nick Frost goodness for you.) The aliens aren’t easy to get a handle on just yet, but they sure do seem to have a lot of teeth. Could be a fun time, but based on the trailer its characters might not be all that appealing. Check it for yourself below.
Sam is walking home in a scary South London tower block when she’s robbed by a gang of hooded youths. She flees when the gang are attacked by a small alien creature which falls from the sky. While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of creatures falls. The gang grab weapons, mount bikes, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are much bigger. Savage and bestial, nothing will stand in their way. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her only hope.
ATTACK THE BLOCK comes out in the UK on MAY 11th; still no release set for North America, but we’ll certainly give you an update when we get one.
