Aubrey Plaza to join Jason Statham in untitled Guy Ritchie thriller

After starring alongside Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis in the Hulu holiday comedy Happiest Season, Aubrey Plaza will join Jason Statham for Guy Ritchie's new thriller formally known as Five Eyes. Ritchie is directing from a screenplay penned by The Gentlemen scribes Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies with revisions by Ritchie. Atkinson will also produce the upcoming film, which follows an MI6 guns-and-steel agent (Statham) who is recruited by a global intelligence alliance to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with a CIA high-tech expert, Fortune sets off on a globe-trotting mission where he will have to use all of his charm, ingenuity, and stealth to track down and infiltrate billionaire arms brokers.

Plaza, who secured her place in pop culture while playing April Ludgate for NBC's Parks and Recreation, became a Thanksgiving sensation this past holiday weekend thanks to her role as Riley for Hulu's Happiest Season. Seriously, Plaza's name was all over social media promptly after the film's release, with fans of the Christmas-themed romance swooning for her character. Some users even went so far as to say that Stewart's Abby should have left her partner, Harper (Davis), for Riley, as they seemed to be a better match.

Ritchie's untitled thriller will be produced and financed by Miramax with STX in charge of distribution. We'll be sure to bring you more updates as this project continued to come together.
