A little over a year ago, I brought along the trailer for John V. Soto’s Aussie nightmare NEEDLE. Dunno about you, but I got a bit of a Clive Barker vibe from the preview; it looks intense and bloody, with some voodoo mysticism thrown in for added chills. I had all but forgotten about the picture since then, but now it’s back in the spotlight after grabbing some positive distribution news.
Grindstone Entertainment has acquired all North American rights to NEEDLE and will release the flick on DVD through Lionsgate Home Entertainment. In addition, Japanese the distribution rights went to Shochiku. The film has already been sold to Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, Middle-East, India, Korea, Turkey, Indonesia… Hopefully we’ll all get a look at this one soon.
NEEDLE stars Travis Fimmel, Jane Badler, Ben Mendelsohn and Tahyna Tozzi; it carried the following plot synopsis: A college student inherits an 18th Century machine with deadly supernatural powers. When the machine goes missing and his friends start dying, the student must team with his estranged brother to find the thief and stop the killings.
