AVATAR is a movie that simply won’t die. Ever. It’ll live on and on and on until people don’t even exist anymore, then some alien from Mars will come, slap AVATAR in a Blu-ray player, and think that it’s based on a true story. And who the f*ck knows, maybe it is.
In another example of AVATAR’s supremacy, 20th Centurey Fox announced this week that AVATAR is the fastest selling DVD / Blu-ray release… of all time!!!!! In just three weeks, 19.7 million copies have been sold, beating THE DARK KNIGHT‘s previously held record of 16M copies in its first three weeks.
How crappy is it to be THE DARK KNIGHT right now? It rose to the top in 2008, breaking a shitload of box office numbers, almost beating TITANIC as the number one grossing film ever, snagging the fastest selling DVD/Blu-ray release ever title, and now… BAM! AVATAR comes in and snatches away all of its glory. Bummer.
I don’t mind that AVATAR is doing so well on video, but it sucks that it’s the most barebones copy EVER featuring just the movie and not a single extra. That’s lame. The double-dip this Holiday season will likely be the highest grossing double-dip DVD/Blu-ray ever, and most people won’t even mind. Bugh…..
