The most expensive movie ever made is coming to theaters in just over three weeks with hopes to at least break even, if not a little bit of a profit. AVATAR, in all of its 3D glory, may be the season’s (if not, the year’s) most anticipated movie. So ensuring the MPAA is kind is very important. Looks like James Cameron and Fox have something to be thankful for this year after all.
MPAA has released the official rating of AVATAR today, which scored a predictable PG-13 for intense epic battle sequences and warfare, sensuality, language and some smoking.
Smoking gets rated these days? What’s next, over eating? Regardless, epic battles, war, some sex, and a little bit of language sounds about right, no? PG-13 is the gold standard for box office success, and I don’t think Cameron was aiming for anything less.
AVATAR hits theaters everywhere (i.e., the world) December 18, 2009, in all of its PG-13 glory.
