Backcountry’s Missy Peregrym & Adam MacDonald reteam for Out Come the Wolves

Six years ago, actor Adam MacDonald made his feature writing and directing debut with an entertaining survival thriller called BACKCOUNTRY (watch it HERE), which starred Missy Peregrym as a woman lost in the wilderness and menaced by a bear. Now MacDonald and Peregrym are set to team up again on a survival thriller called OUT COME THE WOLVES.

MacDonald will be directing OUT COME THE WOLVES from a screenplay by Enuka Okuma. The story centers on

a woman who brings her male best friend to meet her fiancé at her family’s secluded family cabin in the woods. As tensions grow between the two men, they set off into the wild on a deer hunt, before a pack of ravenous wolves forces them to face the darkest side of nature.

Peregrym will be playing the woman in question, and it's pretty cool that MacDonald has brought the star of his bear movie back to work with him on his wolf movie. The role of the fiancé has yet to be cast, but Joris Jansky will be playing the woman's best friend.

IFC Midnight is on board to release OUT COME THE WOLVES in the U.S., while levelFilm will be distributing it in Canada. Altitude Film Entertainment has picked up the international sales rights and will be presenting the project to potential buyers at the online American Film Market next week.

Peregrym is producing the film with Owen Kelly of Antigravity Entertainment and Todd Berger of December Films. Altitude's Will Clarke, Andy Mayson, and Mike Runagall serve as executive producers.

Filming is expected to take place in Northern Ontario next June. MacDonald had this to say about the project:

I'm beyond excited to start production on OUT COME THE WOLVES. I feel a deep responsibility to bring the intense, visceral emotional experience to life, putting viewers on the very edge of their seats."

Kelly and Berger added:

Adam sets a new bar when it comes to survivalist films that pit people face to face with forces of nature. Missy has been setting and re-setting the bar on complex heroines since introducing herself to viewers on screen."

We'll keep you updated on OUT COME THE WOLVES as the project continues to move forward. This will be MacDonald's third feature; his second was the occult horror film PYEWACKET (watch it HERE).
