The 2009 Halloween Horror Nights promises to be quite an event! Commencing on October 2nd, Universal Studios have teamed with Chiller channel to not only scare the living piss out of folks, but to also bestow recognition among those who’ve long exemplified excellence in the horror genre.

And that’s where sir Rick Baker comes in. Highly lauded as one of the all-time best make-up/effects man in the biz, the 6-time Oscar winner will collect yet another accolade to pile on his mantle. In specific, Baker will accept a Chiller Eyegore Award for his incomparable design and his makeup effects that have created indelible imagery in over 42 horror films.

Among his impressive canon, Baker has contributed to such venerated genre classics as THE EXORCIST, AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (for which he earned the very first Oscar in the category of make-up), THE FURY, THE HOWLING, THE FUNHOUSE, VIDEODROME, Michael Jackson’s THRILLER, IT’S ALIVE, THE RING, and an ass-load more!

Baker’s latest creations will be displayed in Joe Johnston’s reimagining of THE WOLF MAN, which takes a bite out of theaters on February 10, 2010. The flick stars Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt (below), Hugo Weaving, Geraldine Chapline, Art Malik and Kiran Shah.
