Barry Watson, Sonita Henry lead cast of Into the Dark: The Current Occupant

The July installment of the Hulu / Blumhouse anthology series Into the Dark is complete – but it remains to be seen whether or not the show will be able to finish its full twelve episode run. The July entry already had to clear some hurdles to make it through post-production in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Independence Day themed film is titled THE CURRENT OCCUPANT. Directed by Julius Ramsay from a script by Alston Ramsay (who used to work as a speechwriter at the Pentagon), it has the following synopsis:

Trapped in a mysterious psychiatric ward, the episode follows a man with no memory comes to believe that he’s the President of the United States and the subject of a diabolical political conspiracy. As the asylum’s soul-crushing forces bear down on him, he fights to preserve his sanity and escape so that he can return to power.

Barry Watson, Sonita Henry, Marvin "Krondon" Jones III, Lilli Birdsell, Kate Cobb, Ezra Buzzington, and Joshua Burge star.

THE CURRENT OCCUPANT made it through production before things were shut down due to the pandemic, but the post team had to work with Julius Ramsay remotely to complete the editing process.

Seasons of Into the Dark begin in October and run through September, consisting of twelve movies that are released onto the Hulu streaming service on a monthly basis. Each film is inspired by a special date in the month of its release.

Into the Dark: THE CURRENT OCCUPANT will arrive on Hulu on July 17th – thirteen days after the holiday it's inspired by.
