Drew Barrymore to go on zombie-like regimen for Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet

Despite how health conscience you are, I think everyone will agree that adhering to a strict diet can be a real pain in the ass. Take me for example; having lived with Crohn’s disease for the past 20 years, I’ve had to limit things like gluten and other irritants out of my meal plan, permanently. You get used to the routine, but it’s a bit of an inconvenience when trying to eat out at a nice restaurant or spend the weekend at a friend’s place. Anyway, I think we’ve all heard enough of my belly-aching for one news story, and as luck would have it, it sounds like Drew Barrymore and Netflix’s upcoming series SANTA CLARITA DIET might have a solution to my cumbersome culinary conundrum.

In SANTA CLARITA DIET, Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way.

The show will be executively produced by showrunner Victor Fresco (BETTER OFF TED, MY NAME IS EARL), Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky, Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell, with Nancy Juvonen set as a producer. From what I can gather, Barrymore will undergo a series of changes as she dines on human flesh in an effort to obtain her desired figure and obtuse sense of wellness. Without having seen a more extended look at the show, there’s no telling what lengths Sheila will go to when looking to satisfy her hunger, or just how far Joel is willing to go when helping to cover up his wife’s murderous misdeeds.

The good news is that we won’t have long to wait, as SANTA CLARITA DIET, starring Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson, and Skylar Gisondo will premiere only Netflix beginning on February 3, 2017.
