Bat-signal to shine in L.A. tonight in honor of Adam West

This last weekend we lost a true legend after BATMAN actor Adam West passed away at 88. Fans and fellow celebrities shared pictures, stories and kind words for the late star who brought joy to millions with his take on the Caped Crusader. But there’s plenty more honoring left to do, and West will get the ultimate tribute from the city of Los Angeles as they shine the bat-signal high in the sky.

THR is reporting that tonight the mayor of L.A., Eric Garcetti, and Police Department Chief Charlie Beck will shine the iconic symbol in the sky at 9 p.m. at City Hall (200 N. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90012) in remembrance of West, and the public is encouraged to attend.

West started playing Batman on TV in 1969 and did so for three seasons of the show and one movie. In later years he re-embraced the role and voiced the character for animated projects and would attend countless fan events. West's take on the character connected with a new generation of viewers in recent years, and in that time he found another role to be loved for: playing himself as the ridiculous mayor on FAMILY GUY. The actor died on Saturday after a battle with leukemia at the age of 88.

I can’t tell you how jealous I am of all the lucky L.A. residents who will get to see the symbol shine in the sky. West was as iconic as they come, and such an honor as this shows just how many people he inspired as The Bright Knight. He was a hero to millions, and to just as many the ultimate Batman. He will be missed dearly, and like the bat-signal he will shine forever among the stars.
