Hidden within an article from The Hollywood Reporter comes word on a pretty interesting adaptation coming our way: BAD MONKEYS. Monkeys are awesome. Bad monkeys… I can’t even wrap my head around that one! But wait… no monkeys? Or are there…
You see the project will be coming from actor-turned-producer Matt Battaglia, who most recently produced the drama BROTHERS. Battagli has gone on a bit of a shopping spree lately, picking up THE MARLBORO MARINE, OR I’LL DRESS YOU IN THE MOURNING, an Untitled Hunter Scott project and of course, BAD MONKEYS. Now those other projects are all fine and dandy but only MONKEYS seems like it’d be interesting enough to report about here at AITH. Now what exactly is MONKEYS about? Unfortunately it isn’t monkeys…
The story centers on a female protagonist who struggles with her alter ego and, after being arrested for murder, claims to belong to a secret society that fights evil.
Hell I can dig that! The film is based on Matt Ruff’s novel of the same name, which the New York Times Book Review called “a science fiction ‘Catcher in the Rye.'” Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Unfortunately this is all the information we have… it doesn’t even mention which project Battaglia will be tackling first, but as always as soon as we hear more on BAD MONKEYS we’ll pass along word to all of you!
