Now here’s a new and inventive spin on the “blood-sucker” genre: The Depressed Vampire! I love it! This is the concept for a new horror indie from writer/director Elias (yes, he only has one name). The title is, get this, DEAD SUCKS. Great title! Wait till you get a whiff of the plot. Please, read on:
Burt is a wayward vampire with a ‘messy’ past, an uncertain future and a disproportionate need for sleep. Rejected by vampires and humans alike, he searches to find his place in a world where the only thing that sucks more than being alive is being dead.
I’ll tell you what most likely won’t suck: This friggin’ movie! I’m really diggin’ this “depressed vamp” theme. There seems to be room for a wide range of interesting adventures for Burt (see his pic below). And apparently, that is precisely what Elias has in mind. Seeing as how the flick was originally planned as a TV series, he’s hoping to turn DEAD SUCKS into a possible film franchise. “I’m proud of the script,” he said. “We went through a number of drafts, and I feel like it has a really nice mix of horror, humor and drama now. It’s really only the beginning; the story was always meant to continue.”
