Ben Stiller in talks to reteam with Noah Baumbach on Penguins

Ben Stiller, who previously dabbled with penguins in the MADAGASCAR series, is set to return to the world of the flightless birds. Stiller and Noah Baumbach, who just recently worked together on GREENBERG, are in discussions to reunite on MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS, a kids flick based on the 1938 children’s book.

The book follows the tale of Mr. Popper, a house painter who dreams of being an Antarctic explorer. One day a mysterious crate shows up at his house and inside he finds a flock of penguins.

While it may seem like an unusual move for Stiller and Baumbach, whose last movie was a somewhat dense adult dramedy, it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. Baumbach co-wrote the FANTASTIC MR. FOX script with Wes Anderson and Stiller has made a killing on the NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM flicks.

What is perhaps a bit odd, is that this is the second project that Stiller has attached himself to that would have him co-starring with a group of exotic animals. He was in talks with Cameron Crowe to star in WE BOUGHT A ZOO about a man who, well, bought a zoo.
