Benedict Wong joins Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s Doctor Strange

I'm very curious to see just how effectively Marvel will be able to translate Doctor Strange to the big screen; the studio has dug into the weird yet cosmic well before with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, but DOCTOR STRANGE is an entirely different beast, if Marvel is able to pull it off, we'll be ready to accept anything that AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR sends our way. Production on DOCTOR STRANGE is still ongoing, but THR reports that a new cast-member has been added who will fill an important role in the life of Doctor Stephen Strange.

The outlet reports that Benedict Wong (THE MARTIAN) has joined the cast of DOCTOR STRANGE as Wong, Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) trusty sidekick. Wong has been a part of Doctor Strange's comic adventures since the 1960's and while he is knowledgeable in occult matters and martial arts, he also assists with healing duties and tending to Doctor Strange's affairs. One of Wong's duties include protecting Doctor Strange's body while he's astral projecting himself into other planes of existence. Benedict Wong most recently popped up in Ridley Scott's THE MARTIAN, but he's also had roles in PROMETHEUS, KICK ASS 2, Netflix's Marco Polo, and more. However, to me, he'll always be Prime from "The Final Countdown" episode of The IT Crowd.

DOCTOR STRANGE is set for a November 4, 2016 release.
