Beware Boiúna trailer unleashes a giant Amazonian snake, and not even Jimothy is safe

The giant snake has arrived. A trailer has been released for Beware Boiúna, the upcoming Amazon creature feature from Wrong Turn (2021) and Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025) director Mike P. Nelson. The film is set to slither into theatres on October 2, 2026. You can watch the trailer above.

Previously announced under the titles Boiúna: Legend of the Amazon and Titan, Beware Boiúna stars Kiana Madeira (Fear Street), Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), and Logan Marshall-Green (The Invitation). The screenplay comes from Alan McElroy, the writer of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and both the original and 2021 versions of Wrong Turn. The story comes from McElroy and Tony Giglio.

The official synopsis reads:

Deep in the Amazon, a medical mission spirals into a fight for survival when Boiúna, a colossal ancient predator, awakens to reclaim her domain. In the jungle where nature holds absolute power, she decides who lives and who dies.

The story follows a team of young doctors who travel deep into Brazil’s Amazon rainforest on a humanitarian mission along the Curuçá River. Their arrival awakens the legendary Boiúna, an enormous predator capable of hunting its victims both on land and in the water. The title refers to a creature from Brazilian folklore. Also known as the Cobra Grande, the Boiúna is a gigantic mythical serpent said to inhabit the rivers of the Amazon. The legend has inspired stories throughout Brazil, making it a fitting monster for an Amazon-set creature feature.

And if the new trailer wasn’t enough to make it clear that nothing is safe from this snake, the movie’s promotional campaign has taken things a step further with a series of very unusual posters. The posters feature some of the internet’s most beloved viral animals, raccoon Jimothy, Punch the Monkey, and baby hippo Moo Deng, only to have each of them become lunch for the giant Boiúna. Yes, Jimothy gets eaten by a giant snake. Before anyone starts worrying, the animals are featured in the tongue-in-cheek promotional artwork rather than the actual movie. But the posters make the point that when Boiúna is on the hunt, nobody is safe.

Nelson has become a familiar name among horror fans in recent years. His credits include the Wrong Turn reboot, The Domestics, the Silent Night, Deadly Night remake, his V/H/S/85 segment, and the Friday the 13th short film Sweet Revenge. McElroy also has strong genre pedigree. After making his feature writing debut with Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, he went on to write movies like Rapid Fire, Spawn, The Marine, Tekken, and the original Wrong Turn, as well as Nelson’s 2021 reboot.

Beware Boiúna is produced by Constantin Film and JB Pictures, with Robert Kulzer and Jeremy Bolt producing. Are you looking forward to seeing this giant Amazonian snake on the big screen? Take a look at the trailer, then let us know in the comments.
