Beyblade movie spinning up from producer Jerry Bruckheimer

Grab your most powerful Beyblades and prepare to let them rip because a live-action adaptation based on the popular toy franchise is spinning our way. The Beyblade movie project is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, with Neil Widener and Gavin James penning the script.

Developed by the Japanese firm Takara, Beyblades were a direct response to the popularity of Pokemon. Licensed to different companies across the globe, including Hasbro, Beyblades were weaponized tops used in fighting tournaments. Fighters at opposite ends of an arena would let their respective Beyblade rip and see who could destroy the other. Early Beyblades included Ultimate Frostic Dranzer, Spin Dragoon, and Saizo. Beyblades became exceedingly popular, inspiring manga, anime, and comics series based on the franchise. Each Beyblade has a Beylauncher that competitors use to launch their Beyblade into battle.

Paramount will be the official home of the Beyblade movie. Plot details remain under wraps, but let’s be honest, it doesn’t take a genius to figure that the film will revolve around young Beyblade enthusiasts competing in a tournament setting. With properties like Sonic the Hedgehog and Goosebumps making big moves, it’s no surprise that another property aimed at young audiences is ready to swing for the fences.

What do you think about Jerry Bruckheimer producing a Beyblade movie? Do you or your kids still own any Beyblades? Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments section down below.
