Big Bang Theory signs Walton Goggins and Beth Behrs for new storyline

CBS' THE BIG BANG THEORY has signed actors Walton Goggins (TOMB RAIDER, JUSTIFIED) and Beth Behrs (TWO BROKE GIRLS) to the Chuck Lorre/Steve Molaro comedy for guest roles in an episode set to air on January 18th.

Behrs, who's well known for her comedic prowess on TV, will play Nell, a recently separated school teacher who becomes involved with Raj (Kunal Nayyar). Making things difficult for them will be Nell's fiercely passionate husband, Oliver, played by Walton Goggins. During the scheduled episode, Oliver will hunt Raj down and confront him about his newly acquired interest in Nell.

The move to find Raj a love interest bears a lot of sense when you consider that his nerdtastic comrades are all either married or engaged, at this point in the show's long-running history. At the close of the show's tenth season, fans bore witness to Raj's decision to surrender his family's money in an effort to become his own man. According to the program's new showrunner, Steve Holland, the act of gathering his druthers has left Raj with a restored sense of confidence. Going forward, it should prove interesting to see if Nell can inspire Raj to modify his adorkably misogynistic demeanor, turning into someone he can be proud to greet in the mirror each morning.

"The reason to do a journey like that is to have it affect and change the character a bit, and that change is going to affect his dating life as well," says Holland.

THE BIG BANG THEORY airs on Monday nights courtesy of CBS. Be sure to check your local listings for showtimes.
