It’s been some time since we’ve heard much of Robert Zemeckis and his digitally enhanced live-action BEOWULF project, so it comes as no surprise that we have some (I mean, we wouldn’t lead you off the straight and narrow with that introduction, now would we?).
Set for release next November 17th, the film will not only screen in Real D theatres, but also in large-format 3D theatres, most likely Imax (though no deal has been signed yet). Expected to be in more than 1,000 Real D theatres as well as other 3D locations, this should be the largest day-and-date large-format 3D release ever.
In case you’re wondering if Zemeckis has had any experience doing this sort of thing, keep in mind that THE POLAR EXPRESS raked in close to $46 million when it played in Imax, while MONSTER HOUSE scored more than $10 million on just 178 Real D screens.
