Big Shot: John Stamos hits the basketball court in Disney+ series trailer

Disney Plus has taken the first official trailer for the new original series Big Shot off the bench. Starring John Stamos as a mercurial coach named Marvyn Korn, the series dribbles around an all-girls elite private school basketball team and their emotional journey on and off the court.

Production for Big Shot has had to call a few times outs during its development due to COVID-related issues. Filming had shut down on two separate occasions but later resumed in early July in Los Angeles.

Per Disney, here’s the official synopsis for Big Shot:

After getting ousted from the NCAA, a hothead men’s basketball coach must take a job at an all-girls high school. He soon learns that teenage girls are more than just X’s and O’s; they require empathy and vulnerability — foreign concepts for the stoic Coach Korn (John Stamos). By learning how to connect with his players, Marvyn starts to grow into the person he’s always hoped to be. The girls learn to take themselves more seriously, finding their footing both on and o? the court.

In addition to Stamos, the 10-episode series developed by David E. Kelly and based on an original idea by Brad Garett also stars Jessalyn Gilsig, Yvette Nicole Brown, Richard Robichaux, Nell Verlaque, Tiana Le, Monique Green, Tisha Custodio, and Cricket Wamplerwill.

Directed by Bill D’Ella and Viet Nguyen, Big Shot will release episodes weekly, beginning on April 16.
