Here we are, a solid 2 months before the release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA’S ECLIPSE, and they’re already prepping for the sequel, the fourth and final film in the SAGA’s series. At least I think it’s the final. I don’t really know since I haven’t read the books.
Last week it was officially announced that Bill Condon, the director of CANDYMAN: FAREWELL TO THE FLESH, will be directing THE TWILIGHT SAGA’S BREAKING DAWN for Summit Entertainment. People who seem to give a shit (i.e., Twihards) were a little upset that someone with such a checkered past would be taking on the series, and not someone of the more fluffy variety (except he also directed DREAMGIRLS, and that’s as fluffy as it gets).
To address these concerns, Condon posted a note to fans on BREAKING DANW’s official fan page on Facebook (become a fan–er, I mean ‘like it’–HERE) addressing these concerns, and to just say ‘hi’ to his new group of followers. Here’s an excerpt:
I’m pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I’ve read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine’s and Chris’s movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine’s notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz’s companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk – a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for “newborn” status in the universe you’ve been living inside for a few years now, but a guy’s gotta start somewhere.
In other words, the man is immersing himself in the Twiculture and selling his soul in the process. He goes on to say how excited he is about joining the Twiteam, how awesome the books are and the rest of the film series, and he even opens up the comment section for questions. After just 4 days, 7,382 people ‘liked’ his post, and 3,022 people posted comments / questions. Holy god.
Condon was also cool enough to post a couple of new images from ECLIPSE on the Faceboook page (at least, I’d like to think Condon was the guy responsible), which was awful nice of him. Those images can be seen above and below.
