Bill Hader finally talks IT: Chapter Two – and it’s hilarious

As all of you know by now, I'm looking forward to seeing director Andres Muschietti's follow-up to his hit adaptation of STEPHEN KING'S IT more than the birth of my first child. And I bet you are too. And speaking of the sure to be amazing IT: CHAPTER TWO, none other than grown-up Richie "Trash Mouth" Tozier, Bill Hader has finally opened up about what it was like working on the much-anticipated sequel.

Hader recently sat down with Conan OBrien and talked about the new film. The best part is when he talks about how Bill Skarsgard did the Pennywise drifting eye trick in front of him and it freaked him out. That or when he says the title of the movie should have been ITS. Or when he does his impression of Muschietti. Classic. Total classic. It's a fun watch so I suggest checking it out ASAP.

Bill Hader on IT: CHAPTER TWO:

This is my first horror movie, and I’m terrible at acting scared, apparently. When I’m scared, I think I smile. Like, I get nervous and I smile… We would do takes and the director Andy Muschietti would come and he’s like, ‘Bill, you need to be scared, man.’ I go, I was terrified! He goes, ‘No man, you’re smiling the whole time. What’s wrong with you?’ And it’s true.

Hader's take on working with Skarsgard is in pretty stark contrast to fellow co-star James McAvoy, who said: "he really freaked me out. I remember standing there with the rest of the cast, all these adults, and we’d all done weird freaky stuff. And we are all looking at each other going, ‘I don’t like being here. I don’t like being an actor today.’ He really did, he really freaked me out. I never liked clowns as a kid." Which I guess just means that Bill Hader is tougher than James "The Beast" McAvoy. Just don't tell him I said that.

Here's the new film's semi-synopsis for those who don't already know:

Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, IT CHAPTER TWO brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.

Bill Skarsgård returns in the seminal role of Pennywise along with James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean. Reprising their roles as the original members of the Losers Club are Jaeden Lieberher, Wyatt Oleff, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, and Jack Dylan Grazer. Muschietti directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman based on the novel by Stephen King. Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee are producing the film. Marty Ewing, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg are the executive producers. IT CHAPTER TWO is a New Line Cinema production. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. on September 6, 2019.
