There’s really no way to describe what goes on in the trailer for DOGTOOTH. Couldn’t even tell you if I had a synopsis – which I do, but it still doesn’t cover the weirdness apparent in the video below. It looks kind of like what would happen if Takashi Miike made a move in Greece. You get the point.
Here’s part of the sort-of synopsis from IMDb: Three teenagers are confined to an isolated country estate that could very well be on another planet. The trio spend their days listening to endless homemade tapes that teach them a whole new vocabulary. Any word that comes from beyond their family abode is instantly assigned a new meaning. Hence ‘the sea’ refers to a large armchair and ‘zombies’ are little yellow flowers. Having invented a brother whom they claim to have ostracized for his disobedience, the uber-controlling parents terrorize their offspring into submission.
The flick has been appearing at dozens of film festivals since last year, and buzz has been good. It recently opened in the UK, and will soon make its (limited) debut in the US on JUNE 25th. If you want more, hit up the official site HERE.
