Black Book Fun

Growing up, there was one director who kept giving the goods and made some real entertaining – and influential – films. Specifically sci-fi action films. Yup, you got that right – the man behind ROBOCOP, TOTAL RECALL, and STARSHIP TROOPERS – Paul Verhoeven. The guy’s made some awesomely graphic and entertaining flicks, so while it isn’t horror, his latest flick BLACK BOOK is looking to be just as fun… but in another way.

How a guy can go from HOLLOW MAN to a World War II period piece like this is beyond me, but like I said… he’s a genius, so all the bigger props to him. BLACK BOOK stars Carice Van Houten and Sebastian Koch, and is about a woman infiltrating both sides of the war in Germany.

The poster here is pretty cool looking, and you can check out the trailers for the flick below (as well as a few images from the film). Did I mention the film’s entirely in German? Oh. Well, it is. If WWII dramas are your thing, this might rub your willy the right way… if not, just remember Verhoeven for the man he used to be… and for SHOWGIRLS.
