Black Christmas 1-sheet

Seeing as how we’re all well within the Tis the Season insanity, I just had to do a write-up centering on the end-all of holiday horror. The true granddaddy of the genre that basically ushered in a whole new era in the “crazy killer stalker” or as it is now simply put, the “slasher”. I’m speaking, of course, of Bob Clark’s 1974 visceral masterpiece BLACK CHRISTMAS.

Much like GREMLINS and IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (small shout-out to the Mrs.), BLACK CHRISTMAS should be required holiday viewing each and every December. I’ve been trying to watch it on or close to Christmas Eve the past couple of years.

And now just look at what Ol’ Saint Nick has brought us this year! A brand new poster for the flick (up top)! What’s the reason for such madness?! Well, it was actually designed by James Davis for the Alamo Drafthouse, which will be screening BLACK CHRISTMAS as the very last entry of its “Terror Thursday” lineup on December 25th. What a fantastic finale! And speaking of fantastic, how about that friggin’ poster?! It’s like a comic book version of the movie! You’ve got a scared Olivia Hussey on the phone with the blackened silhouette of that mysterious nuts-o Billy and his signature “eyeball”. And you know what’s the best part? You can actually purchase this 24×34, 3 color, signed and numbered poster by heading over to mondotees.com. Not a bad last-minute stocking stuffer!
