Blade gets spiked

While I dug BLADE and had a fun time with BLADE 2, BLADE TRINITY was a let down in many ways, most notably because Goyer does not do well in the director’s chair. Well, Goyer looks to redeem himself by bringing the Daywalker to the small screen next June.

Yesterday, Spike TV announced plans to bring the Marvel comics franchise to its network, with David Goyer executive producing and handling writing duties with comic book author Geoff Johns. Peter O’Fallon (SUICIDE KINGS, EUREKA, AMERICAN GOTHIC) will be helming the series. New Line, the studio that first brought BLADE to the silver screen will produce.

After the friction between New Line and Mr. Wesley Snipes after TRINITY wrapped (let’s just say he wasn’t happy with the whole experience), it’s obvious that he wouldn’t be back with the tattoos and badass attitude. So what’s the alternative? Enter Kirk Jones, aka Sticky Fingaz of the hip hop group Onyx. He’s already been in a number of films and TV shows, including CLOCKERS, DEAD PRESIDENTS and FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX. He’s been given the task of hunting down and blowing away the suckheads in place of Snipes.

The series will start shooting November 14th in Vancouver, with Jill Wagner (‘Monk’), Neil Jackson (‘Stargate SG-1’), Nelson Lee (‘Traffic,’ the TV mini-series) and Jessica Gower (‘Blurred’) also on board.
