Blade Runner 2049 clip: Lennie James has faced bigger than Ryan Gosling

We've seen trailers for director Denis Villeneuve's BLADE RUNNER 2049 (one here, one here, and here's another) and even a prequel short directed by Ridley Scott's son Luke, and now – less than a month away from the film's release – a clip from the movie has arrived online.

In this clip, Ryan Gosling's detective character is working a case that had led him to an illegal operation in the midst of a wasteland. Appearing to be some kind of child labor sweatshop, this place is run by The Walking Dead's Lennie James, and when James finds out Gosling is a cop he is unnerved but unimpressed. This clip doesn't give away anything about the film's story, but does offer an intriguing glimpse into its world and the chance to see James make some interesting delivery choices.

The long-awaited sequel to director Ridley Scott's 1982 film BLADE RUNNER, 2049 was written by Michael Green and BLADE RUNNER co-writer Hampton Fancher. The synopsis:

Officer K (Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

Gosling, Ford, and James are joined in the cast by Jared Leto, Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Hiam Abbass, Barkhad Abdi, and Edward James Olmos.

BLADE RUNNER 2049 reaches theatres on October 6th and boasts a running time of 163 minutes. You can see about a minute and a half of that right here:
