On a relatively slow news day, I’m happy to come across an item that’s reeeeally bizarre.
Sci Fi Wire led me to the official homepage of actress Joanna Cassidy. Isn’t that BIZARRE?! Wait, that’s not all. According to her page, Cassidy has just finished “reshoots” in preparation for a new DVD release of BLADE RUNNER. Um, huh?!
Here’s the info directly from her site: Joanna has just finished re-shooting her scenes from the original BLADE RUNNER movie. Joanna is wearing her original outfit (which she kept over from the first production). These new scenes will be part of the upcoming special BLADE RUNNER DVD re-release.
Doing some research, I couldn’t find a single thing about this happening. The message is a little vague. Is she reshooting scenes that already exist or are these brand new scenes? Can we expect a new version of BLADE RUNNER? (which famously has two different cuts available; but most directors are perfectionists and always wanting to retool their work. If that’s case, is Ridley Scott involved?)
Cassidy played Zhora, one of the villainous (misunderstood?) Replicants that Blade Runner Harrison Ford had to assassinate in cruddy 2019 L.A. The last I saw her she was playing psycho-psychiatrist Margaret Chenowith on SIX FEET UNDER, and she was still lookin’ pretty good. I honestly know as much as you do now but you better believe I’m going to keep a lookout for more information on this. And if you have something solid, for God’s sake don’t keep it to yourself!
