According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blanks has a new project lined up entitled LONG WEEKEND, which just scored Jim Caviezel (aka Jesus) and Claudia Karvan (DAYBREAKERS) in the starring roles. Based on a 1978 Australian flick of the same name, WEEKEND concerns a young couple on a camping trip who callously disregard the local environment, firing guns and wounding wildlife, until the wildlife starts to hit back.
Yes! I love it when the environment starts to fight back! Seriously, this sounds like an awesome idea for a movie! And as it apparently already is a movie, it looks like one I’ll have to dig up and check out (if it’s even available). According to Gary Hamilton, the guy behind Arclight Films (which gave this badboy the green light), “The original film was a great example of a classic chiller and was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. We think the time is right to make this new film and that it will have a huge appeal to audiences worldwide.”
Let’s hope so… I know I’m down! No word on when this beast will begin shooting, but as it’s two main stars and it’s director are all lined up, I’d say it’s only a matter of time. So while you’re waiting, be sure to check out Blanks’ latest flick STORM WARNING, which should be hitting worldwide sometime soon.
