Fans of Uwe Boll’s latest attempt at producing a great video game-to-film epic BLOODRAYNE can see for yourselves if the film warranted the criticism it got, as the boys at Dread Central snagged news on the DVD release of the film, set for May 23rd.
BLOODRAYNE cost $25 million to make plus $22 million in marketing alone, which has resulted in an underwhelming $2.5 million at the box office, so take that for what it’s worth. Now, it probably is easy to take shots at Boll for this, but there are times when you have to be open-minded about films, and not go into it with the pre-conceived notion it will suck/rule. This would seem to be one of those times.
As for the DVD, it is unrated (as the norm it seems for horror DVDs, nowadays) and is listed at $24.99 on Amazon. The specs, on the other hand, weren’t available, although as you can see from the box art, you’ll be getting the PC version of BloodRayne 2, which is another one of those ‘take it or leave it’ opinions. Hopefully we get more info on the release soon, and maybe we’ll get to hear from Mr. Boll himself on a commentary track, since I’m sure he’ll have some issues he’ll have to address, one way or another.
