Severin Films has announced that they will release special edition versions of BLOODY BIRTHDAY, NIGHTMARES and THE BABY on DVD on June 28. Each features a new transfer of the respective film’s uncut print. Check out the cover art for each of ’em below.
1981’s BLOODY BIRTHDAY is directed by Ed Hunt, who co-wrote the script with Barry Pearson. Special features on the disc include an interview with Hunt, interview with star Lori Lethin and A Brief History of Slasher Films featurette. Here is the plot:
In 1970, three children are born at the height of a total eclipse. Due to the sun and moon blocking Saturn, which controls emotions, they have become heartless killers ten years later, and are able to escape detection because of their youthful and innocent facades. A boy and his teenage sister become endangered when they stumble onto the bloody truth.
1980’s NIGHTMARES (also known as STAGE FRIGHT) is directed by John D. Lamond and written by Colin Eggleston. Special features on the disc include a commentary by Lamond, A Brief History of Slasher Films featurette and trailers. Here is the plot:
A little girl named Cathy tries to keep her mother from making out with a man while driving one day, and she inadvertently causes her mother’s death in the car crash. 16 years later, Cathy has changed her name to Helen and has become a psychotic actress. Things are going fine until horrible things starts to happened with the cast of her new play.
1973’s THE BABY is directed by Ted Post and written by Abe Polsky. Special features on the disc include an interview with Post, interview with star David Money and the trailer. Here is the plot:
A social worker who recently lost her husband investigates the strange Wadsworth family. The Wadsworths might not seem too unusual to hear about them at first – consisting of the mother, two grown daughters and the diaper-clad, bottle-sucking baby. The problem is, the baby is twenty-one years old.
