Please, please, please don’t let this be true.
Bloody-Disgusting caught up with Uwe Boll at the premiere for BLOODRAYNE, and had a little chat with him. In the interview, Boll revealed that IN THE NAME OF THE KING (the DUNGEON SIEGE film) will be released to theatres as a single film after all, instead of the initially proposed 2 film release. You’ll be able to catch the full 190 minute flick on DVD, whereas the theatrical cut will be 150 minutes. As for BLOODRAYNE, Boll managed to sneak in the topic of comparing his film to another film featuring a vampire chick heading to theatres around the same time. That film of course is UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION. “On BLOODRAYNE, for me the most important thing was not to do it like UNDERWORLD,” says Boll. “Where in UNDERWORLD, Kate Beckinsale, she would never f**k, or suck blood out of people, even if she is a vampire, which is a little absurd. Kristanna Loken is sexy, she is dirty, and she kills people, and it is different. A major company would never make that, it is too disturbing. And the budget is 19 million.”
Okay, so with that out of the way, Boll dropped another bomb that I’m sure fans will just love to hear. When asked about doing an adaptation of Half-Life, Boll replied that ‘people’ are coming to him with Metal Gear Solid (what?!). “They wrote a script, and Konami basically paid these people to write it. And I hope that Metal Gear Solid will be working.” When asked if he wanted to make MGS, Boll replied, “Yea, absolutely. And especially with the DOOM situation. I think we could do it a lot better. [Metal Gear Solid] is one of the top five of all time.”
It’s not over folks. Boll also revealed that his newly acquired deal to make Postal, not Far Cry, is next on the shooting schedule. “Far Cry is next spring because it is a whole, um, like if you shoot in Thailand you cannot shoot in summer. So you either have to shoot in winter or you have to been finished in April. So we moved it to early next year.”
Every Metal Gear fan can say it with me now: SNAAAAAKE!!
