Oh gosh, here we go again. It was reported on
Uwe Boll’s
Official Fan Site(???) that his latest project is set to start
filming this July- the video game adaptation of DUNGEON SIEGE.
Boll obviously
love video games, he obviously
loves to
make movie apatations of video games… unfortunately, it’s also obvious
that he
loves to make them unintenionally bad. Still batting
zero with HOUSE OF THE DEAD and ALONE IN THE DARK under his belt, it’s
funny he’s stickin’ with the video game angle. Here’s what he had to say
about his latest project:
“Dungeon Siege” transcends the video game
genre and appeals to mainstream entertainment audiences. Based on the
success of HOUSE OF THE DEAD, I believe “Dungeon Siege” contains major
crossover potential because of its unique blend of action and fantasy, on
the order of “Lord of the Rings.”
Oh man, he’s making the link between what he’s going to produce and
LORD OF THE RINGS…. Hard to tell if this is something to fear, or look
forward to at this stage in the game, but the choreographer of HERO Tony
Ching is talked about being attached, as well as actor Donald
Sutherland.
Now, this is interesting, because it’s been said his next movie is
HUNTER: THE RECKONING (see article
HERE), yet another video-game-to-movie project. Maybe he’ll have
time to film that one between now and July when SIEGE is set to film…
he definitely has the time to do so.
Uwe Boll is definitely the Ed Wood of this generation- he has heart and
passion behind the films he makes. He just has problems making it work
on screen. For that, you got to give the guy props- he never stops
tryin’. His latest flick BLOODRAYNE hits theaters later this Spring, and
ALONE IN THE DARK is set to hit DVD shelves May 10th.
Thanks to PY Kong for the heads up!
