Hey gang! Who wants Uwe Boll news?! (comical sound of crickets chirping)
Cool! Guess what, the Boll has got another zombie flick on his platter – and you’ll probably never believe this – but it’s based on a video game. What makes this game special is that it hasn’t even been released yet, so don’t get your bile up just yet (other than due to general outrage).
The game is called ZOMBIE MASSACRE, and will shoot for around $6 million in Vancouver in 2009, so Boll can probably fit in about 37 other movies before then.
“I want to make this movie more creepy than House of the Dead, which was intended to be funny and campy,” said Boll. “I’d like Zombie Massacre to be a harsh zombie movie like 28 Days Later.”
I had never considered HOUSE OF THE DEAD anything other than an unmitigated failure – but apparently it was supposed to be campy (as well as amateurish and ridiculous?) so I may have to reevaluate it with another viewing – something I once swore I’d rather jab out my eyeballs than do.
In other Boll news, the article claims BLOODRAYNE 2: DELIVERANCE is selling well – Boll offers that Wal-Mart and Best Buy have sold “over 35 % of their copies in the first three days.” Of course, a third BLOODRAYNE is in order, and will likely film in Croatia next year (along with something called SABOTAGE 1943).
Finally, I leave you with this, directly from the article: Postal, which is opening November 9, has been tracking well.
Boll said he recently screened the film in Tucson, Arizona with game developer Running With Scissors and the crowd, which literally came armed with guns, loved the film’s slapstick and dirty humor.
So apparently POSTAL is so shockingly non-shitty that even an audience armed with guns specifically brought for the purpose of violently mowing down Dr. Boll resisted their murderous urges and just went along with the terrorism-based humor… Things are looking up, gang – things are looking up.
